Elektrizace železnic Praha a.s. has specialized in the development, design, manufacturing and assembling of railroad traction cables for the railways as well as for city transport in the Czech Republic and abroad for more than fifty years.

Current situation:
Prior to implementing AuditPro, our company used software provided by a competing company however, regarding functionality, ease of use and potential, it did not satisfy our needs, particularly in the fields of software asset management and common activities closely related to IT operations, that is, primarily, asset registration with the possibility of performing everyday activities such as asset transfers between users, monitoring assets in stock, in repair or merely displaying all assets assigned to a user. Other issues we needed to address were quick and easy stock-taking and obtaining information on the factual use of PCs and applications.

Course of the implementation:
The implementation of the AuditPro application was carried out in several stages. During the first stage, it was necessary to define the objectives we wanted to achieve. In this field, Truconnexion assisted us in creating a concept of AuditPro deployment in a configuration that best suited our conditions and requirements. This was the server, database and client part installation. The installation of the AuditPro Server module and the database was performed separately to spread the load. After the basic configuration of the server was established, the client module installation method was selected, i.e. the GPO and Active Directory, which constitute a very fast and efficient installation of AuditPro clients that we have been using to this day.
A major and key point following the installation and configuration of AuditPro as such was transferring all assets maintained under the previous software into the AuditPro asset module. This action involved the exportation of data from the previous application and creating suitable structures for import into AuditPro. It became obvious that this rather complicated operation was very fast and efficient thanks to the flexibility of the AuditPro data structure customization. The transfer as such was carried out in one day while the subsequent control and customization of the Assets module to meet our needs took less than a week.

What changed:
AuditPro brought a number of positive changes in the manner and efficiency of our IT department.
Asset monitoring is easier, more efficient, clearer and provides output that we can work with and evaluate. Standard stock-taking or iPAQ stock-taking is fast and precise. The web interface, which forms a part of our intranet portal, provides users with an immediate overview of assets that are registered to them.

Barcodes generated and printed directly from the AuditPro application allow us easy registration and labeling of all our devices. In the field of software management, the benefits are obvious, primarily the facility provided for monitoring the statuses of licences bought for large numbers of PCs. It is possible to monitor relevant application versions of software on particular computers with immediate results. Other benefits are, undoubtedly, the possibility of creating our own application libraries, registering installations performed, interconnection to the invoice register module, which provides important information on purchases and, last but not least, the direct presentation of accounting documents. Data provided, other than the applications themselves, regarding when there are violations of copyright constitute information of no less interest. It is possible to monitor, for example, mp3, avi format files, etc. very quickly and comprehensively. The PC Monitor is undoubtedly a module that will provide a number of valuable and interesting information items to a varied group of people. Information about PC performance, use of processor, memory and vacant hard drive capacity will certainly be of interest to the people in charge of hardware purchasing. This allows, for instance, the assessment of whether a particular computer is capable of using a newer, more demanding application version, etc. The people in charge of software will welcome information on the factual requirements for licences when displaying the report of applications factually run. This allows for the simple identification of whether an application in a particular PC is actually used by the relevant user. From the keyboard and mouse monitoring report, managers may obtain summary information on how a particular PC is generally used; even information about a PC being turned on and off.

Resumé:
"As the network administrator, I appreciate the very good interconnection with the Active Directory when AuditPro contributes information on PCs or users who have not signed-on for a prolonged time period; this leads to investigations as to the reasons why, etc.

A major change is the application provider's response to a possible functionality extension or rectification of a possible problem. With respect to the contact with the provider, our requirements are addressed rather quickly and implemented in subsequent versions.

In my opinion, AuditPro has given us the possibilities and functionality we use every day, and simplified and made the routine more comprehensive, as well as leading to more demanding requirements for the IT department operations. I am convinced that AuditPro is beneficial to our company and that choosing this software was a step in the right direction."
